THAI TRIP 2012 : FIRST TWO WEEKS

Choice of Master Teachers... Homprang

Choice #2  Homprang Chaleekanha Homestay

Homprang is a Traditional Thai Massage Therapist, Doctor and Midwife.

On her beautiful piece of land just outside of Chiang Mai, she and her husband Christopher grow a variety of herbs in their garden which they use for treatment, to teach students basic herbal compress techniques, for cooking delicious meals, and for the wonderful herbal sauna to which students have daily access.

Students will find the experience with Homprang to be very nurturing, relaxing, and communal. You will stay on the pastoral grounds of Homprang’s Baan Hom, so no commuting will be necessary.

Homprang teaches beginning students and advanced students Thai Massage together in the same classroom, believing that this way of working encourages exchange and sharing between students as well as with herself as the teacher.

Homprang’s philosophy of Thai Medicine, of which Thai Massage is only one part, is a philosophy of integration. She says it is important to her to eat dinner with her students so that questions, concerns and insights can continue to be exchanged throughout the 2 weeks of study. Learning does not take place just during classroom hours, but is an ongoing daily activity.

This choice is more inclusive and you will not interact much with the other group as you will be basically staying on the grounds for the two weeks. However, for the weekend between the two weeks, we will get together as a full group to go to Chiang Dao, a sacred mountain north of Chiang Mai. Christopher and Homprang will accompany us on this trip, sharing their extensive knowledge of the region.
