About the Workshops

THAI HERBAL COMPRESS THERAPY with Bob Haddad
No massage/herbalism experience necessary

This thirteen hour workshop provides an introduction to samunphrai, the herbal component of traditional Thai healing. Thai herbs and rhizomes are freshly mixed, wrapped into compresses (luk pra kob), steamed, and then applied to the body while hot. Use of luk pra kob relieves stress, loosens tight muscles, eases tension and brings about a calm state of mind.

The course presents a basic understanding and working knowledge of the preparation and application of Thai herbal compresses through discussion, mixing and preparing herbs, and topical application. There will be ample time for practice with a variety of partners. Instruction manual, herbs and all other materials are included. Students will take some herbs for their own personal use after the workshop. The workshop grants 13 CEU hours valid for NCBTMB and THAI. Certificates are awarded.

Using hot steamed herbs on the body will be the perfect thing to do on a cold winter day!

TEACHINGS FROM THAILAND

Paul and Paul, fresh, relaxed, and energized from Thailand, will share what they learned from Pichest and others in their journey to the motherland.  What will this class be about?  It's anyone's guess. But we guarantee it will be amazing. 

THAI FOR THE TABLE -  Massage experience necessary

This class is a boon for table practioners who are looking to incorporate Thai style stretching into their current routines.  Blending stretching and Thai compression is often challenging when using oil and draping.  CSTM graduate and anatomy teacher Tina Ntanos, LMT, will guide you through this fascinating connection of two modalities. 

You must provide your own table and sheets.

WORKING WITH BLOCKS ALONG SEN LINES - Thai experience necessary

Christopher Ray is back for a one day class focusing on assessing and releasing blocks along the sen. 

INTRODUCTION TO THAI MASSAGE - No experience necessary

This class is designed to introduce the amazing floor-based practice of Thai massage to those with little or no experience in floor bodywork. There are no prerequisites beyond a desire to explore. You will learn to relax while using your body weight and gravity to apply firm pressure. You will gain confidence using a wide variety of stretching techniques while gently stretching yourself as well. Using breath and movement, we will create a comfortable and safe environment of healing touch. You will walk away with a simple and effective Thai “routine” to practice on your family and friends.

• This workshop is designed for beginners but all will benefit.
  
• Experience is not necessary. You must feel somewhat comfortable on your knees.
  
• Also included are yoga for Thai massage, historical and philosophical foundations of Thai massage, and self-care techniques.
  
• Floor mats are provided.

THAI FOOT MASSAGE - Some massage experience necessary

In Thailand, foot massage is everywhere; in the malls, the airports, and on the street.  Spending time with the foot, working sen and reflexology points can make a huge impact on the rest of the stuctural and organic body.  Learn the finer points of Thai foot massage in this CSTM specialty workshop.

THAI ABDOMINAL MASSAGE - Thai experience necessary

Paul and Paul, still fairly fresh from Thailand, will teach this Thai abdominal massage class.  There will be bits of Chi Ne Tsan, Chinese abdominal organ massage, included.  Abdominal work is deep and emotional.  Paul and Paul will work with the utmost care to guide you deeply into the most energetic part of the body. 

THAI ADVANCED THERAPEUTICS WITH CHRISTOPHER RAY - Thai experience necessary

Back for another amazing weekend, Christopher teaches how to breath, relax and go very, very deep.  This is not child's play nor is it for the meek. 
 

CLINICAL THAI MASSAGE WITH CHUCK DUFF - Thai experience necessary

Our friend and neighbor, Chuck Duff will join CSTM for Clinic Thai massage class.  The specific focus is yet to be determined at this time.   We are happy to be part of the larger Thai massage community in Chicago and beyond.
