Why We Are Unique

In-depth Study

We believe Thai healing studies is not something you learn in a weekend, or even a week or two. It is an amazing and challenging practice that requires time, energy, and patience. In other words it requires commitment.

We believe that Thai healing studies is not a sequence of positions or techniques that you overlay on a person. It is a conversation. Our six month workshop series helps you to develop your ability to be present in that conversation.

Spiritual Connection and Self-Growth

We are convinced that bodywork and self-understanding walk together hand in hand. When holding a space for someone’s healing, if we are not clear of our own fears, worries, and strong emotions, as least for the session, then we are not doing our job. For a simple example, we may find that when we are working on someone, our mind flits into the past or into the future. We may find that although our hands are on the person's body, we are not fully present. When we are not fully present in this practice, not only will we miss important messages their body is telling us, but we may even hurt them by carelessly moving their body in a manner that is harmful to that person. Very few, if any, are completely present in a session from start to finish; however, we give time and space to nurturing the growth of deeper engagement with "the moment as it is".

Easing You into the “Real World”

We believe that in order for you to get the best possible education, you need support while engaging with the general public. It is one thing to work on fellow participants but much more difficult to work on the public. We support you by spending time each weekend with problems and challenges that came up in the “in between” weeks as you complete your logged sessions. We have a participant practice clinic where you are guided by experienced practitioners to work on people who may present challenges that you have not faced before. We do community service where we work with underserved populations as a group, again, guided by your teachers who offer advise and correction. We teach anatomy so that you can converse intelligently with your clients and other health care professionals. CSTM is uniquely situated to give you the support you need as you marinate yourself in this beautiful art.
